Our Story

Hi! My name is Alisha. I am the maker of The Original Heffer Dust. It was first created by my father in the late 1970's. He lived and worked in the suburbs of Fort Worth, Texas. His hobbies were race cars, cattle ranching and cooking for large fundraisers and get together's. Everyone always enjoyed his cooking. When he first started out he was never quite satisfied with basic seasonings so he decided to create his own. After several attempts he finally came up with a recipe that satisfied even the most critical critics. It was perfect! For years he and his friends cooked mouth watering ribs, chicken and briskets at functions all around the Fort Worth area. 

In 1992, On a trip to California to visit us kids, my dad shared his recipe with me. He showed me how to make it and told me to share it with people here on the Central Coast. He said never to give out the recipe. Now I know why. We made it, ate it and shared it with many who quickly became hooked! As word traveled, everyone started asking me to bring that "Special seasoning" to every event. The demand got to be more than I could share so I began to sell it. Our customers went from few to hundreds in a very short time. This made us believe we had a product that people really enjoyed and decided to market it for everyone. Although I didn't see my dad often, he was always proud to hear how well his seasoning was doing over here. He passed away on April 21, 2019. I am happy to be able to continue making his seasoning and am very thankful to have this business. I recently retired from my job at the school district after 23 years. I am a grandmother to five grandchildren who I love to spend time with and spoil. Heffer Dust is my only job now and I love it!
